Beautiful Beach Locations Near Tampa
Cypress Point Park in Tampa
Cypress Point Park is one of the most convenient beach photography locations in Tampa. It offers a sandy shoreline, grassy areas, walking paths, palm trees, and views across Tampa Bay, giving us several different backgrounds without having to travel between locations.
This is a great option for families staying near Downtown Tampa, Westshore, or Tampa International Airport who want a coastal setting without driving all the way to Clearwater. It is especially lovely for family photography, maternity sessions, couples, engagements, and smaller groups.
The beach itself feels natural and relaxed rather than overly touristy. Children have room to explore, couples can walk along the shoreline, and nobody has to stand perfectly still smiling at me for an hour. Frankly, that sounds exhausting for all of us.
Best time for photos: Early morning at 8am.
What to wear: Neutral colors, soft earth tones, cream, rust, sage green, muted pink, and warm beige all photograph beautifully here. Bare feet are encouraged once we reach the sand.
Upham Beach in St. Pete Beach
Upham Beach is a beautiful photography location in St. Pete Beach with soft sand, open Gulf views, sea oats, and plenty of space for relaxed sunset portraits. It has that classic Florida beach look without feeling quite as built up as some of the larger tourist beaches. It’s a personal favorite of mine.
This location is perfect for family photography, couples sessions, maternity photos, engagements, proposals, anniversaries, and small beach elopements. It is also a convenient option for families vacationing in St. Pete Beach, Treasure Island, Madeira Beach, or the surrounding Tampa Bay area.
The wide shoreline gives us room for natural movement and candid photographs. Families can walk along the water, children can play in the sand, and couples can enjoy the session without feeling as though every photograph needs to be carefully posed. We will still get the photograph where everyone looks at the camera, obviously. Your grandmother would never forgive me otherwise.
Upham Beach is especially beautiful when the sun begins to drop over the Gulf. The light becomes warm and soft, the water reflects the evening sky, and the entire beach takes on that dreamy coastal look without needing filters, props, or coordinated white shirts from 2007.
Best time for photos: The final hour before sunset offers the most flattering light and the best chance of colorful skies. Weekday evenings are generally better for avoiding larger weekend crowds.
What to wear: Cream, beige, rust, soft green, muted pink, warm brown, and subtle coastal colors photograph beautifully here. Lightweight fabrics and outfits with natural movement work especially well near the water.
Bradenton and Anna Maria Island Beaches
The beaches around Bradenton and Anna Maria Island offer a slightly quieter and more laid back feel than some of Tampa Bay’s busier coastal areas. With soft sand, sea oats, wooden walkways, turquoise water, and incredible Gulf sunsets, this area is beautiful for both casual and romantic photography sessions.
Bradenton beach photography works especially well for extended families vacationing together, couples, maternity sessions, anniversaries, engagements, and elopements. The natural scenery gives your gallery a warm, coastal look without needing elaborate props or complicated posing.
This area is also wonderful if you want a mix of candid and traditional portraits. We can begin with everyone looking vaguely respectable, then move into walking, playing, cuddling, and letting the children get sandy once the important photographs are safely captured.
Families staying in Bradenton, Sarasota, Anna Maria Island, Holmes Beach, or nearby vacation rentals can arrange a session close to where they are staying. That makes the entire experience easier, particularly when small children and Florida traffic are involved.
Best time for photos: Approximately one hour before sunset. Morning sessions can also work well for younger children, although evening provides the warmest light and strongest sunset colors.
What to wear: Warm neutrals, muted coastal colors, flowing fabrics, linen, and simple textures complement the scenery. Avoid extremely bright neon colors or clothing with large logos, since they can distract from both your family and the natural beach setting.
